Search Dade County Inmate Records

Dade County inmate records start with the county jail, but the official roster is not currently a live public search tool. A Dade County jail roster search therefore depends on the jail information line, sheriff records email, open-records process, and court follow-up when a person has bonded out. Sentenced state prisoners, federal inmates, and immigration detainees move into separate systems outside the county jail record path.

Dade County Jail Roster Overview

The Dade County Sheriff's Office inmate and jail resources page is the official local starting point. It lists the jail address, jail email, phone numbers, mail routing, NCIC phone/video service, The Store Call commissary and messaging service, jail staff, and public business hours. During research on June 4, 2026, its "Current List of Inmates" section said "Info coming soon," so no public roster fields or inmate profiles were available there.

Sheriff Ray Cross is the elected sheriff for Dade County. The roster fallback should be read with the county sheriff page, the Dade Sheriff's Divisions page, and the sheriff open-records instructions.

Dade County Jail records cover the local jail population: pretrial detainees, county-sentenced inmates, state-sentenced inmates awaiting transfer, and other agency holds. They do not replace the Georgia Department of Corrections offender query, the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator, the ICE Online Detainee Locator System, or VINELink.

The roster gap also affects how quickly a family member can answer basic questions. Without a live search form, the most reliable current-custody confirmation is direct contact with the jail. For older records, a written request is safer because it creates a clear record description and lets the agency apply Georgia Open Records Act timing and fee rules.

When calling, separate three questions: whether the person is currently in custody, whether a bond or hold is listed, and whether the record needed is a jail record or a court record. Dade's public materials do not publish a bond counter policy or after-hours records window, so the phone call should happen before travel or payment arrangements.

How to Use the Dade County Inmate Roster Fallbacks

Because the live roster is not published, the practical search is a documented fallback chain. Use a full name, date of birth if known, arrest date if known, and any booking or court case number already available.

  1. Open the official sheriff jail resources page and check whether the current inmate list has been activated.
  2. Call Dade County Jail at 706-657-2277 for current custody and release information.
  3. Use the Sheriff's Office main number, 706-657-3233, when the question needs records routing or another sheriff unit.
  4. Email jail questions to jail@dadesheriff.com when a written, non-emergency inquiry is appropriate.
  5. For booking records, booking reports, incident reports, or releasable photos, send a sheriff open-records request to Info@dadesheriff.com.

What a Dade County Inmate Record Shows

Dade does not currently publish a clickable public inmate profile. The best official local sample is a 2022 Dade Daily Booking Activity Report hosted by the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. It is not a current roster, but it shows the kinds of fields Dade has used for incoming bookings.

Booking NumberA local booking identifier, with a sample format like 2022-00000151.
Name and AddressThe booked person's name and listed residence address.

Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates

Custody type controls where to search. A person arrested in Dade County may start at the county jail, later appear in court records, then move to state, federal, or immigration custody depending on the case.

Booking Process in Dade County

Official Dade web materials do not publish a step-by-step booking policy or roster refresh schedule. The booking sample shows a practical sequence: arrest or citation, transport to Dade County Jail, identity and intake, booking number and inmate number assignment, demographic and descriptor entry, incarceration-reason entry, classification field, and later release-date or release-reason update.

One sample entry showed "Released on Bond," while unreleased sample entries used 09/09/9999 as a placeholder release date. That placeholder should not be treated as a scheduled release date. For first appearance, bond, or court dates, use the jail, court calendar, Clerk, or counsel.

The same sample separated the incarceration reason from the later release reason. That is useful when reading Dade records because a person may enter on a warrant, citation, or warrantless arrest but leave through bond, transfer, dismissal, sentence completion, or another court order. Do not assume the intake reason is the final charge or the final case result.

Visitation Hours and Rules

The sheriff's official jail resources page does not publish a visitation schedule, visit length, visitor application process, ID rule, dress code, child-visitor rule, or video-visit price. It does list NCIC Inmate Communications for phone and video service.

Visit TypeScheduleRules Located
In-person public visitationNot located in official online sourcesCall 706-657-2277 before arrival.

How to Contact a Dade County Inmate

Standard inmate mail is not routed to the jail building. The sheriff page lists this format: Inmate Name / Dade County GA, JailATM.com, 925 B. Peachtree Street NE, P.O. Box 2062, Atlanta, GA 30309. Legal inmate mail goes to Dade County Jail, Inmate Name, P.O. Box 920, Trenton, GA 30752.

For inmate phone and video, the sheriff page points to NCIC Inmate Communications. For inmate commissary and messaging, it points to The Store Call. Confirm custody before creating accounts or sending money.

Commissary and Inmate Funds

The Store Call is the sheriff-listed commissary and messaging vendor, but the official Dade page does not publish a deposit fee table, spending limit, refund policy, tablet program, or commissary schedule. NCIC is the listed phone/video vendor, but Dade-specific pricing was not located.

For booking records, Georgia's open-records process may matter more than vendor accounts. Dade's form says the first 15 minutes of search and retrieval are free, ordinary pages are generally $0.10 unless a different law applies, estimates over $25 require notice and confirmation, and estimates over $500 may require advance payment. These fee rules are especially relevant for archived jail reports, incident records, and larger booking-record requests.

When the lookup is about a court result rather than current custody, the Clerk is the better source. The Clerk's policy says staff do not conduct general criminal-history searches, but the public may search local criminal history data on terminals at the Clerk's Office with minimal assistance. Specific criminal dispositions can be copied and certified for the listed statutory fees.

Dade County's open-records routing also has two addresses to keep straight. Sheriff records use the sheriff email identified above. General county open-records requests may be sent to the Dade County Administrative Office at 71 Case Avenue, Suite 243, P.O. Box 370, Trenton, GA 30752, or to info@dadecounty-ga.gov if the county office is the correct custodian.

Note: Confirm the person is still at Dade County Jail before sending funds, mail, or scheduling any video service.
